New Delhi: Often on the silver screen, we have seen characters turning to a life of crime after their dreams and ambitions fail. But have you ever wondered what would happen if an aspiring actor used his acting prowess in real life to commit illegal acts? Well, something similar happened recently in Maharashtra.
According to a hindustantimes.com report, a 32-year-old aspiring actor, identified as Faizul Hasan Shaikh, was recently arrested by the Waliv police for masterminding an array of crimes by posing as a cop. When he failed to make it big in the showbiz arena, Faizul allegedly got involved in criminal activities such as extortion, robbery and forgery.
The report further states that he robbed two-wheelers and mobile phones by pretending to be a police officer. Faizul was reportedly arrested on Monday (May 27, 2024). The action was taken by the police after he stole a high-end mobile phone from an electronics store in Vasai. Following the incident, the owner of the outlet filed a complaint.
Faizul studied the behaviour of cops while preparing for auditions and mastered their gestures.He then used his skills as a con artist to deceive innocent people for his own gain.
Fake IDs recovered
More than 30 fake joining letters from various police stations in the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar region were recovered from his house post-arrest. Officials also found police uniforms, fake identity cards, handcuffs and a police cap in his possession. Faizul has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is believed to be underway.
