Almost every month different organisations slap or waive or reduce some new charges on citizens that could become significant for many.
LPG cylinder
For example, LPG prices are revised at the beginning of every month. A reduction in LPG prices is always a great boon for the average Indian kitchen budget. With soaring food inflation, kitchen budgets are already stressed and any reduction in LPG would help cool the fire in the kitchen.
In August 2023, the government has slashed prices of the domesric LPG cylinder by Rs 200.
HDFC Bank charges
HDFC Bank is the largest private sector commercial bank in India. Its annual report of accounts for FY24 mentions that the bank has 9.32 crore customers – a number which is 12% more than the total population of Europe’s most populous country Germany (8.32 crore). Therefore, any change in HDFC Bank’s charges can impact a very large number of common people.
The bank is also India’s biggest credit card issuer. Till the end of January 2024, HDFC Bank issued 2.01 crore credit cards, more than nay other bank.
In August the bank is going to revise its credit card rules.
Rent and fuel charges
Those customers who pay rent through digital platforms such as Freecharge, MobiKwik, CRED or Cheq will be charged a 1% transaction fee. It would have a cap of Rs 3,000 per transaction.
If fuel is purchased for any amount below Rs 15,000 it would remain free of charge. However, if the fuel bill rises to above Rs 15,000, the buyer has to pay a 1% charge. However, a cap of Rs 3,000 will also be applicable in this instance.
Tata Neu cards
It has also been reported that HDFC Bank will change a few rules for Tata Neu Infinity and Tata Neu Plus credit cards. These will also come into effect from the first day of August 2024.
Users of the Tata Neu Infinity and HDFC Bank credit card would get 1.5% NeuCoins reward on eligible UPI transactions done using Tata Neu UPI ID.
Google Maps
Google Maps is also slashing charges by up to 70% from August 1. It is directed to attract partners. It is also going to switch to billing in INR from the current practice of billing in USD.
However, it won’t impact the common man.
