New Delhi: The ongoing Boxing Day Test match between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has been a thrilling spectacle so far, brimming with high drama and intense competition.
On Day 1, Australian opener Konstas and Kohli crossed each other near the pitch after the end of the over which led to a deliberate shoulder bump. Both cricketers had a heated conversation before Usman Khawaja stepped in to cool things down. After the incident, the star Indian batter received a lot of criticism from fans, former cricketers and Australian media. One of the Australian newspaper also slammed him by using the headline ‘Clown Kohli’.
Kohli was repeatedly booed on Day 2 at the MCG by the Australian crowd when he was fielding near the boundary. He was fined 20 percent of his match fee and handed one demerit point. Former England batter Kevin Pietersen backed Virat Kohli and said that he is creating a theatre down under. He praised Kohli and said that many cricketers would end their successful international career with a 1/4 of what he has achieved.
Virat creating theatre down under! Let’s GO!
Imagine how boring it would be without the showman! And he’s earned EVERYTHING with his runs over his career!
Many would end their successful international careers with a 1/4 of what he’s achieved….

Jadeja and Pant started the Day 3 for the hosts and both players looked to score runs on a good batting surface at the MCG. Boland got the first wicket of the day by removing Pant on 28 runs who tried to play a ramp shot but only managed to get a top edge and Lyon at deep third man took a good catch. Nathan Lyon dismissed Jadeja on 17 runs to put the visitors under more pressure.
