New Delhi: Manchester United, West Ham United, Everton and Bournemouth are in final talks for taking part in a Premier League’s Summer Series event in the United States at the end of July according to a media source. It would be the second edition of the pre-season tournament with the games set to be played in Atlanta, New Jersey and Chicago.

Although the lineup is not yet as the clubs need to retain their Premier League at the end of the 2024-25 season, Man United, West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton are all set to take part in the tour. West Ham have a ten-point cushion from relegation while Man United and the Toffees are ahead of the relegation zone by 12 and 13 points respectively.

Amidst the teams set for the tour, Bournemouth are placed highest in the table. Last summer Bournemouth visited the US and their American owner, Bill Foley, is trying to increase their fanbase in the country. The site already has US midfielder Tyler Adams along with Matai Akinmbon.

Premier League wanted to have the top two teams, either Liverpool and final Arsenal but both sides reportedly have a better offer for a tour to Asia in the summer. The summer pre-season will only start after the completion of the FIFA Club World Cup, which is being hosted in the USA as well and will have feature teams Manchester City and Chelsea.

United’s anticipated participation in the USA tour in addition to their post-season trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong, is hoped to generate £7.9m in revenue at a time when they are expecting more job cuts from the club. The Red Devils may also play a separate match from the series on the West Coast at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The club in their previous two outings in the country had played at the venue and Snapdragon is also front of the shirt sponsor. Travelling to both the coasts would be taxing for the first team.

Premier League’s Previous Summer Series

Premier League had to cancel the 2024 edition of the Summer Series due to logistical complications around organizing the event. Leading clubs though had already organised their tours for the summer tours and NBC’s summer broadcast schedule had been taken away by Copa America in the US and Paris Olympics.

The inaugural 2023 edition saw each team play three fixtures and the league had stated that more than 260,000 fans had attended the series.

NBC, who are Premier League’s exclusive broadcaster in the US screened the Summer Series event in 2023 which featured Brentford, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Fulham and Brighton. Chelsea had won the tournament taking two wins and a draw, with Aston Villa in second place and Newcastle in third.

Manchester United and other Premier Leagues are in advanced talks for Summer Series tour to United States tour following the completion of the FIFA Club World Cup.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
