New Delhi: The historic News9’s Indian Tigers and Tigresses initiative has given a lifetime opportunity to as many as 28 Indian kids to get a specialised training in football in Austria. It all began with the TV9 Network’s scheme getting as many as 50,000 applications as part of the nationwide football talent hunt, which happens to be a unique initiative.

From every corner of the country, youngsters with an inclination towards football, were picked which was followed by trials being held in different states. As many as eight scouting camps were held across different states in India and from 50,000 registrations, the number was pruned to 10,000 which included 7,000 boys and 3,000 girls. Further trimming was done  and just 28 students qualified for the finals.

As per the initiative, all the 28 students would be headed to Austria to get international exposure and train under the best European facilities. All the football enthusiasts have a dream in common and that it to represent Indian internationally in time to come.

Sharvari Mane’s journey from U.S to Pune to Austria

Born in the U.S., raised in Pune, and now heading to Austria, Sharvari Mane’s football journey has been nothing short of remarkable. For the last eight years, football has been more than just a sport for the youngster as she has won numerous trophies, shattering barriers in a plethora of domestic tournaments. Already a sensation, albeit at a low level, Sharvari is aiming to make the best use of the opportunity and learn the tricks of the trade at a big level.

Sharvari’s father, Ajit Mane, believes that her selection will give her more confidence as she will get an opportunity to prove her mettle at the right stage. Sharvari, who is full of excitement and confidence, is also eagerly waiting for this competition abroad. While her father has given her all the confidence, her mother, Aasha Mane, stands as a pillar of support at the same time.

The flight to Austria can prove to be big for the talented footballer as she gets an opportunity to get the right kind of exposure needed to excel in the sport.
