New Delhi: France’s Gael Monfils scripted history on Saturday as he became the oldest player to win a singles ATP Tour Title after beating Zizou Bergs in straight sets in Auckland on Saturday. The French veteran tennis star broke the all-time record held by 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. Monfils beat Zizou 6-3, 6-4 at the ASB Classic to claim his 13th tour title.

Monfils, who won his first ATP Tour title 20 years ago, claimed his 13th tour title at 38 years and 132 days to surpass Federer, who won his final tour title at the age of 38 years and 74 days in Basel in 2019. The French veteran became the oldest champion of the ATP Tour since it was formed in 1990.
