New Delhi: The Minister for Civil Aviation, K Ram Mohan Noida recently announced a 50 per cent reduction in the airfare for the Mahakumbh 2025 attendees with immediate effect. The discussion was taken after three meetings with the airlines which aimed at making the once-in-a-lifetime event affordable and accessible to all.

As per a report by NDTV, the government has taken measures to ensure that airlines do not incur financial losses as a result of the fare reduction. Earlier, the aviation regulator DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) had instructed airlines to rationalize airfares for flights to Prayagraj. On January 23, DGCA officials held a meeting with airline representatives to discuss this matter. In January, the DGCA approved 81 additional flights to accommodate the rising demand. Airlines such as SpiceJet have increased their operations, raising the total number of flights to and from the city to 132.
