New Delhi: Virat Kohli helped Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj plot the dismissal of Australia batter Steve Smith during the hosts’ second innings on Day 4 of the ongoing 4th Test between the two sides at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. Kohli was caught on the stump mic giving instructions to Siraj on how to bowl to Smith to get the better of the Aussie star.
The incident happened during the 33rd over of Australia’s second innings on Day 4 when Smith was facing Siraj in the middle. Kohli was spotted shouting instructions for Siraj as the pacer got ready to bowl. The former India captain asked the right-arm speedster to bowl from the corner of the wicket, drawing the batter wide of the crease.
“Kone se, kone se, har ball kone se. Usko pasand hai kone se (Bowl wide from the corner of the wicket. He likes it from there),” Kohli was heard shouting to Siraj on the stump mic. Siraj bowled a wide half-volley on the third delivery of the over and managed to get Smith, who ended up edging it to Rishabh Pant trying to hit it through covers.
Star Sports shared the video of Kohli helping Siraj plot the Australian batter’s dismissal on social media. The clip went viral instantly, drawing the attention of the fans and highlighting how Kohli continues to guide the Indian bowlers with his inputs on the field.

Indian pacers dominate Australia on Day 4
Indian pacers dominated the proceedings on Day 4 of the 4th Test at the MCG after the visitors were bundled out for 369 runs in their first innings, conceding a lead of 105 runs. Australia got off to a poor start in their second innings as Jasprit Bumrah struck early to clean up young Sam Konstas cheaply on 8 before Siraj bamboozled Usman Khawaja to send him back on 21.
Australia were reduced to 85/5 in no time after losing Steve Smith (13), Travis Head (1) and Mitchell Marsh (0) in quick succession as Bumrah and Siraj ran riot with the ball. Bumrah also cleaned up Alex Carey cheaply on just 2 runs before Siraj broke the 57-run stand between Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummings.
Siraj trapped Labuschagne lbw on 70 to get an important breakthrough for India and bag his third wicket of the day. Bumrah and Siraj have so far picked up all 7 Australian wickets between them in their second innings and will be hoping to bundle out the visitors quickly.
