‘He controls the game’: Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up on his learnings from Rohit Sharma

New Delhi: Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has become an integral member of Team India. At a very young age, Jaiswal showed his talent and class to announce himself on the international stage. Jaiswal made his debut for India in July 2023 and has batted along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Jaiswal has played nine Test matches with Indian captain Rohit Sharma and the opening duo has developed a strong partnership at the top of the order. His chemistry with Rohit is evident on the field with the pair already achieving multiple 100+ runs partnership.

Jaiswal has played nine Test matches so far and scored 1028 runs at an average of 68.53, including three centuries and two double centuries. He also played 23 T20I matches for India and scored 723 runs at an average of 36.15, including one hundred and two fifties.

Jaiswal is currently playing for India B in the Duleep Trophy 2024 and will be eyeing a spot in India’s squad for the Bangladesh series. The Men in Blue will play 10 Test matches in the next few months and will look to seal the spot in the WTC final for the third consecutive time.

Team India will face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series starting on September 19. After that, Rohit and Co. will take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series in October. They will tour Australia for the five-match Test series in late November.

‘You can learn a lot from Rohit’: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Jaiswal praised Indian captain Rohit Sharma and said that it’s an incredible experience to bat with him. He also said that Rohit shared his experiences with him and the way he controls the game and understands the wicket is spot on.

“It is an incredible experience whenever I go out and bat with him. He has shared his experiences with me. I think the way he controls the game and understands the wicket, it is spot on and there are a lot of things (to learn from him). You can learn from him things like adjusting your batting to seaming or turning tracks or change your batting when a wicket or two fall,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
