New Delhi: Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between India and England in Thursday’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, the legendary Kapil Dev lavished huge praise on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Kapil called Bumrah a ‘1000 times’ better bowler than himself at his prime. Bumrah has been in top-notch form for India in the ongoing tournament and has arguably been the best bowler for India.

The fast bowler has been excellent with both the new and the old ball, shining in all phases of the game. Bumrah’s pace combined with his accurate line and lengths have seen him trouble the batters consistently in the tournament so far. His ability to restrict runs has also helped his fellow paceman Arshdeep Sing in picking up more wickets for India.
Bumrah has 11 wickets to his name in six matches in the T20 World Cup 2024 at an excellent economy rate of 4.08, which is the best among the top ten wicket-takers in the tournament this year. He has bowled 23 overs in the tournament so far and has two maidens to his name.
“Bumrah is 1000 times better than me. These young boys are far better than us. We had more experience. They are better,” Kapil was quoted as PTI as he lavished praise on the Indian pacer.
Kapil is regarded as one of the best all-rounders the game has seen. He led India to a memorable triumph in the 1983 ODI World Cup as captain and holds the record for most Test wickets by an Indian pacer. He played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs for India, picking up 434 and 253 wickets in the two formats, respectively. Kapil remains India’s third-highest wicket-taker behind R Ashwin and Anil Kumble.
Bumrah, on the other hand, is considered one of the best fast bowlers in the world at present. He has been a vital cog in the Indian pace attack across all formats for several years now. Bumrah has played only 26 Tests but has 159 wickets to his name in the longest format. He has 149 wickets in 89 ODIs and 85 wickets in 68 T20I matches for India.
Can Bumrah be the difference for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final?
Bumrah couldn’t take part in the 2022 T20 World Cup due to an injury and was not part of the playing XI when India lost the semi-final against England by ten wickets. He will be hoping to continue his stellar form with the ball in the all-important semi-final against the defending champions on Thursday.
The legendary Kapil Dev heaped praise on a Team India star, calling him 1000 times better than him. His comments came ahead of India’s semi-final clash against England in the T20 World Cup 2024. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
