Rodion thinks that he could liberate himself from poverty with the money and go on to perform great deeds.

It is the third of the four crime novels that Arthur Conan Doyle had written featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. The story is set largely in Dartmoor, Devon, in England’s West Country. The story follows Jack Torrance, a struggling writer who becomes the off-season caretaker of the historic Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies and takes his family with him.
