New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan on Saturday called his time from the international and domestic forms of cricket after playing 34 Tests, 167 One-Day Internationals, and 68 T20 Internationals from 2010 to 2022. He played his last India match against Bangladesh in the third ODI match on December 10, 2022.
Dhawan shot to prominence when he was named player of the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2004 when he scored 505 runs from seven matches in Bangladesh. He had to wait for his opportunity in the senior Indian cricket team. He helped India win the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales, where he was once again named a player of the tournament, though at a big stage.
It was the 2013 Champions Trophy when Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were first seen as India’s opening pair, though the two played together for the first time in 2011 in Port of Spain against the West Indies. Since then the two have played in 117 innings as a pair.

The former Indian opening pair has amassed 5193 runs in 117 ODI innings at an average of 45.15 with 18 century-plus stands involved. This is the eighth most partnership for any pair in ODIs. Only Sourav Ganguly-Sachin Tendulkar (8227 runs), and Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma (5280 runs) have stitched more runs in ODI partnerships than Rohit and Shikhar.
What is the highest partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in ODIs?
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan registered their best partnership in ODIs during the 2018 Asia Cup tournament in Dubai. While chasing a moderate score of 238 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Four stage, the Indian openers got off to a rollicking start and slammed centuries. Rohit (111*) and Dhawan (114) added 210 runs for the opening wicket to set the tone for the target as India won by nine wickets. This is the only instance when the two have crossed the double-hundred mark in the 117 innings they batted together in the 50-over format.
