New Delhi: Crowd catches are one of the biggest attractions for the people present in the stands and the viewers watching a game of cricket. Not only do they make the atmosphere jovial for a while but also test the catching skills of the people watching the match. Over the years, fans present in the stands have managed to pull off some stunning catches grabbing eyeballs of one and all.
On the third day of the first Test match between England and Sri Lanka at Old Trafford, Manchester, one of the spectators pulled off a remarkable one-handed catch with a pint of beer in his other hand. During the 83rd over of England’s first innings, Sri Lanka bowler Asitha Fernando bowled a short delivery to Mark Wood, who was looking to play some aggressive shots.
Spectator pulls off a stunner
Wood pulled the short pitched ball and it crossed the boundary line only to be cleanly taken by a man present in the crowd. He had number of pints of beer in his one hand and in order to save his beer, he grabbed a one-hand stunner, leaving everyone awe-struck. As soon as he completed the catch, all the cameras turned towards him as he signed off with a salute. Even the England team’s coach Paul Collingwood, who was in the dugout, was left stunned as he tried to imitate the fan’s action by holding an imaginary beer pint and ball in his hands.
