Hyderabad: All arrangements have been completed for ‘Fish Prasadam’ to be administered on June 8,9 at Nampally Exhibition grounds.
32 counters have been set up for the distribution while heavy security arrangements have been made by the police. Food and drinking water will be provided with the help of NGOs for the attendees.
The Bathini Goud family will administer it which allegedly helps in curing asthma and is typically administered in the first week of June, heralding the onset of monsoon.
Speaking to the media, Bathini Amarnath Goud said, “People come from all over the state and also from abroad for fish prasadam. We have arranged to distribute fish prasad to five to six lakh people and it is better if local people come later in the day. We give prasadam once in a year and only on the day of Mrigasira Karte.”
Rationalists continue to challenge its efficacy but many still continue to rush to the venue with hopes of finding relief for their respiratory problems. In 2013, Jana Vignana Vedika went to High Court but the court could not draw any conclusion about damage done because of it. The court ordered Bathini brothers to not call it a ‘drug/medicine’.
The family has been administering it free of cost for the last 175 years and they claim that the formula was given to them by a saint in 1845 after promising that it would be free of cost.
