Hyderabad: Two arrested in Medchal jewellery shop robbery case

Hyderabad:  Two men were arrested in connection to the robbery at Shree Jagadamba Jewellers shop in Medchal area of the city, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said.

On June 20, two men now identified as Nazim Aziz Kotadia and SK Sohail, covered in a burqa and a helmet, barged into a gold shop and attacked, injured the owner of the shop with a knife.

 

Speaking to the media, CP Avinash Mohanty said, “Jewellery and cash were stolen from Jagdamba shop on 20th of this month. They were in the shop for only 40 seconds and vandalized it.

 

After stealing, they dropped the bike 1 km from the jewellery shop. 16 teams were involved in chasing the two men. They were also involved in the case of theft in Chadar Ghat. Nazim, Sohail and Salman have been arrested. They targeted and looted gold shops,” he said.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the two men escaping on a bike with some gold and money. The gold shop owner and another worker can be seen running out to seek help from the locals. The salesman can be seen hitting the burqa clad thief with a chair.
