Hyderabad: Praneeth Hanumanthu, who was arrested for making obscene comments on a father-daughter relationship on a YouTube live stream, is booked in another case, this time for drugs, Tv9 telugu reported.
He was booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after his medical exam showed that he consumed marijuana. The police filed a petition seeking custody of Praneeth for three days and the court has issued notices to his lawyer.
Praneeth was sent to 14-days judicial custody and is currently lodged at Chanchalguda jail for offensive comments against a child in a viral video.
Many social media users, including actor Sai Dharam Tej, condemned him for the comments, flagged the video and urged authorities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to take action against child abuse.
After the video went viral and his comments were subjected to scrutiny, he issued an apology on his X account and edited the offensive portions of the video. “Unconditionally and unambiguously apologetic about the lapse in judgment. This time, unfortunately, I have crossed a line between dark and distasteful.”
According to medical tests conducted by investigators, he had previously consumed marijuana also known as ganja. Telangana States News India: Top News India, States News, States News Headlines, Online State News India, State Politics news
