‘I cried two-three times’: Jasprit Bumrah on controlling his emotions after T20 World Cup triumph

New Delhi: India pacer Jasprit Bumrah opened up on controlling his emotions after the glorious T20 Wolr Cup 2024 victory during Team India’s felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. Bumrah was tremendous in the marquee event helping his side to win T20 World Cup after 17 long years.

Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s World Cup triumph and was phenomenal across the tournament. He won Player of the Tournament award in this campaign. He took 15 wickets in eight matches with a 4.18 economy. India’s pace star delivered in the final of T20 World Cup against South Africa at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29, Saturday giving just 18 runs and took two important wickets in his four over spell.

Bumrah also clarified on his retirement possibility saying he has no plans of retirement from any format of the game. “It’s (my retirement) is a long way away. I have just started. Hopefully, it is far away now,” Bumrah said during the felicitation.

Bumrah was praised during the felicitation and was called as the national treasure, weighed in by Virat Kohli as well.

He said “It feel amazing, this is a special ground in my life, coming as U19 kid and now coming as a winner. what I saw on road and streets was unforgettable” Bumrah added.

“After winning the trophy, it was unreal. I have lost the words, I cry two three times after win seeing my son there and winning the World Cup. I am going to miss this love. What I saw on streets tonight, I won’ forget it,” he added.

Marine Drive pack after India’s Victory Parade

Team India reached Mumbai at 7:00 pm on July, 4. Roads were jammed, streets were packed, massive crowd was gathered to watch India’s victory parade as Men in Blue showcased trophy in the open bus. Fans cheered the team with the slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘India India’.
