New Delhi: Indian Shuttler PV Sindhu suffered a heartbreaking defeat against He Bing Jiao of China during the pre-quarterfinal match at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Sindhu won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics but lost against the world no.9 Bing Jiao in straight sets with a score line of 21-19, 21-14 in 56 minutes.
Her exit from the Summer Games surprised many and Sindhu admitted that she made a little bit of mistakes in her defense. She also said that everybody worked hard and everything is destiny.
“I should have controlled in terms of a little bit of mistakes on my defense is what I felt. Everybody worked hard, so we’ve done whatever we could. Rest is destiny. I don’t regret it” Sindhu was quoted as saying by PTI.
She talked about her match and said that both players were fighting for each point and she made some unforced errors “I kept fighting still because you never know anything can happen. Both of us were fighting for each point because until the end you can’t expect. It’s not easy win or easy points, you can’t think that you have finished the game. I should have hit them inside and I should have got those points where I’ve made those unforced errors” she added.
‘Four years is a very long time’: PV Sindhu uncertain on Los Angeles Olympics participation
The star Indian shuttler is not 100% certain about her participation at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Her dream of becoming the first Indian athlete to win three Olympic medals came to an end at the Paris Olympics.
Sindhu was non-committal when she was asked about her participation in the next Olympic Games. She said that four is a very long time and right now she just wants to take a break and then come back.
“It’s still four years away. So for me, right now, I just go back and rest for a bit, maybe just take some break and then come back and let’s see what it is because four years is a very, very long time. So let’s see” the 29-year-old said.
