Jaipur: After a scuffle erupted at a restaurant on Rajasthan’s Jaipur-Ajmer highway, five people, including an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer were suspended.
The brawl occurred on Sunday night and the entire incident was recorded in the CCTV cameras installed at the restaurant. As per the footage, people could be seen pelting stones at one another and hurling insults.
Both the suspended officers, IAS and Ajmer Development Authority Commissioner Giridhar and IPS Sushil Kumar Bishnoi, were posted as Officers on Special Duty in the state’s Gangapur city.
After a thorough investigation took place by Rajasthan police, two government employees along with a constable were also suspended. In addition, two other police personnel have been transferred to the police lines.
As per several media reports, all the officials were coming back from a farewell party thrown to celebrate the new posting of the IPS officers. In the middle, they decided to halt at a restaurant as they needed to go to the restroom. After this, an altercation took place when they asked one of the staff of the restaurant to open the washroom.
The IPS officer escaped the restaurant after the employees tried to fight back. In a complaint, the owner of the restaurant claimed that after fleeing, the officer came back to the restaurant along with other policemen and started to beat their staff. After a complaint was filed by the restaurant owner, a case was registered against five people.
Meanwhile, IPS officer Bishnoi has refuted all such allegations made against him. As per the Rajasthan police chief Umesh Mishra, the vigilance department is looking into the matter.
