IMD forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning over next five days in Telangana

Hyderabad: India Meteorological Department forecast heavy rain in isolated places like Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal and thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph is likely at many places in Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Siddpet, Hanmakonda, Mulugu, Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda, Medak, Wrangal, Medchal Malkajgiri districts among others on Thursday and Friday.

Light to moderate showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue in many of the above-mentioned districts till June 10.

Additionally, all six zones of Hyderabad, Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, Serilingampally will see cloudy skies and light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph on Wednesday.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. Surface winds are likely to north-westerlies with wind speeds of 8-12 kmph.

North Hyderabad also saw some scattered spells as well as storms in Kapra, Uppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, Dammaiguda areas of the city on Wednesday morning. More rain is in store for Hyderabad city towards the evening.

As per Telangana State Development Planning Society data, Charminar received 54.5 mm rainfall followed by Bahadurpura at 46.3 mm rainfall. Nampally, Serilingampally, Bandlaguda also received 42.8 mm, 35 mm, 32 mm rainfall on Tuesday, June 4.
