IMD: Rain likely in Telangana over the next four days

Hyderabad: Light to moderate rain is likely in some districts of Telangana over the next four days while sustainable surface winds upto 30-40 kmph is likely to prevail in some places of Telangana for next three days, India Meteorological Department said.

According to Independent weather forecaster T Balaji, Telangana will see quick passing rain on Tuesday afternoon and night while heavy rain in East Telangana may reduce by afternoon. Hyderabad could see scattered rain in the evening and one rain spell overnight.

Rainfall in Hyderabad yesterday:

Light rain lashed various parts of the state on Monday with Hyderabad witnessing rain around midnight. The highest amount of rainfall of 9.5 mm was recorded in Golkonda. Mahabubabad recorded the highest in the state with 99.5 mm rainfall followed by Warangal with 94.5 mm, as per Telangana Development Planning Society data.

The state has received excess rainfall this monsoon with 438.6 mm as opposed to the normal of 344.6 mm rain. This is a deviation of 27 percent while Hyderabad received 292 mm, a deviation of 8 percent.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. Surface winds are likely to be westerlies, south-westerlies with wind speeds of 8-12 kmph.

Andhra Pradesh:

Amaravati weather department said that strong surface winds with speed of 30-40 kmph likely at some places over North coastal AP, Yanam, South Coastal AP and Rayalaseema.

Kerala:

Meanwhile, in Wayanad, Kerala,  at least 24 people were killed and 70 were injured in a landslide on Tuesday. NDRF teams, two helicopters are at the scene at Mundakkai to carry out rescue operations, Kerala Minister Veena George said.
