New Delhi: The Day 2 play of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh was called off due to the heavy rain at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The day began with a light rain in the morning but it got heavier which made the play impossible to resume.
There was hope among fans that the weather might clear up by the last session but the rain didn’t stop and both teams along with commentators Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik left the stadium early.

What happened on Day 1?
The play on Day 1 was also called off early due to the heavy rain after 35 overs. The overnight rain in Kanpur also delayed the start of the match by one hour. India opted to bowl first due to the overcast conditions and fast bowlers made a brilliant start.
The ball was moving and Bangladesh’s batters struggled to score runs against pace bowlers. Akash Deep picked up the first wicket for India and removed Zakir Hasan on a duck. He provided the second breakthrough for India and removed Shadman Islam for 24 runs.
Captain Shanto and Mominul Haque built a 51-run partnership for the third wicket but Ashwin broke their partnership and dismissed Shanto for 31 runs. Mushfiqur and Mominul were batting in the middle when the umpire stopped the match due to bad light but later they called off the play due to heavy rain.
Team India lead the 2-match Test by 1-0 after securing a comfortable 280-run victory at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams will hope for clear weather on Day 3 to get a result from this match. Bangladesh will look to add a few more runs on the scoreboard while Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to take early wickets on Sunday.
