New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reacted to his recent milestone achieved during the ongoing second Test match against Bangladesh. On Monday, the left-arm spinner completed a massive double record of achieving 300 wickets and 3000 runs in Test cricket.
He dismissed Bangladesh’s last batter Khaled Ahmed while returning a catch off his own bowling. It was the 300th Test wicket for the Saurashtra-born player as Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 in the first innings. He has scored 3130 runs in 107 Test innings at an average of 36.39.
The interesting fact is that Jadeja became the second quickest player to reach the double of 300 wickets and 3000 runs in Tests. The 35-year-old achieved the feat playing in his 74th Test. Only former England all-rounder Ian Botham has attained the remarkable feat in 72 Tests.
Jadeja became the seventh bowler from India to complete 300 Test wickets, joining Zaheer Khan (311), Ishant Sharma (311), Harbhajan Singh (417), Kapil Dev (434), Ravichandran Ashwin (526*), and Anil Kumble (619). Only Kapil Dev and Ashwin have scored more than 3000 Test runs in this list.
“It’s special when you achieve something for India. I’ve been playing Tests for 10 years and finally I’ve reached this milestone. I’ve done well and I’m proud of myself, and feeling happy and good,” Jadeja told the official broadcaster.
Congratulations @imjadeja for completing 300 wickets in Test match cricket. Your discipline and consistency with the ball have been pivotal in India’s dominant run in the longest format of the game! 🇮🇳#INDvBAN pic.twitter.com/U8u9eeFuf0

Why is the 300-wicket special for Ravindra Jadeja?
Ravindra Jadeja, who retired from T20 Internationals after India’s T20 World Cup victory in June, recollected the moments how people would rate his white-ball game higher than in Tests during his early days of playing.
“It’s special and will forever remain with me. As a youngster I started with white-ball cricket and everyone used to tell me that I was a white-ball cricketer. But I worked hard with the red-ball and finally all the hard work has paid off,” said Jadeja.
India took a lead of 52 runs in the first innings riding on the breezy knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 runs off 51 balls) and KL Rahul (68 runs off 41 balls). Bangladesh trailed by 26 runs after the end of the gamepley of Day 4 with Ravichandran Ashwin claiming two wickets. India aims to post an arduous win in the rain-curtailed Kanpur Test to sweep the series 2-0 to avoid losing valuable points in the current World Test Championship cycle.
