‘Sacked Rohit Sharma already’: Australia media’s promo for BGT sparks internet debate

New Delhi: As the excitement builds up for the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy, cricket fans in India and Australia are equally overjoyed as they are going to witness some god Test action for the coming two months. The series, which will run for five Tests and across different venues in Australia, promises to be a thrilling affair, not just for the teams but for the fans and the cricket pundits alike.

Amid all the excitement, there has been some noise lately on the social media. A promo of the upcoming Test series has gone viral on the internet and while some fans are irked about it, some are making jokes out of it. The promo is by the Australian media channel Fox Cricket, which has shown Pat Cummins beside Virat Kohli, while informing the viewers about the upcoming Test series, which starts in Perth on November 22.

The post is spreading like wildfire because fans are questioning why the channel has used Kohli’s picture when Rohit Sharma is the named captain for the five-Test affair. Some hardcore Rohit fans have been irked while some are making jokes about the Indian opener, saying that the Australian have already sacked him as the Indian captain, referring to India’s recent 3-0 Test whitewash at the hands of New Zealand.
