IND vs NZ 1st Test, Bengaluru weather report: Will rain play spoilsport on Day 1?

New Delhi: Team India will face New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match series starting on October 16, Wednesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Rohit and Co. whitewashed Bangladesh by 2-0 and will be eager to extend their winning run at home.

The Men in Blue are currently at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) table while New Zealand is in sixth position after losing a Test series against Sri Lanka. Star batter Kane Williamson will miss the opening Test due to an injury but the Kiwis still have enough firepower in their team.

Bengaluru weather for Day 1 of IND vs NZ Test

The chances of rain are high on Day 1 of the opening Test. Team India’s practice session on Tuesday was cancelled due to the rain while the Blackcaps held their practice session indoors. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium is equipped with highly efficient drainage and if the rain stops, we might see the match starting quickly.

As per Accuweather, overcast conditions are expected in the morning with a 25 per cent chance of precipitation; by the afternoon, thunderstorms are predicted with a 50 percent chance of rain in Bengaluru. In the evening, conditions will be partly cloudy with a 25 percent chance of rain.

WTC Final spot at stake

Team India will look to accumulate more points to strengthen their position in the WTC table. The Men in Blue are currently in first position with a point percentage of 74.24 while the Australian team is in second position with a point percentage of 62.50. After the New Zealand series, Rohit and Co. will take on Australia in the five-match Test series, starting on November 22.
