India, Bangladesh to host new two editions of Asia Cup, says ACC

New Delhi: The next edition of the T20 Asia Cup in 2025 would be held in India while Bangladesh will host the ODI version of the tournament in 2027, the Asian Cricket Council said on Monday.

The tournament is used as a warm-up event for World Cups and is played in the format in which the mega tournament is to be held.

As the next T20 World Cup will be held in 2026, the 2025 edition of the tournament will be hed in the T20 format.

In 2027, the tournament will be held in the ODI format in Bangladesh before the 50-over World Cup, which will be held in South Africa.

The 2023 edition of the event was held in a hybrid model as India refused to travel to original host Pakistan citing security reasons.

It forced the ACC to shift nine of the tournament’s matches to Sri Lanka with Pakistan playing their four matches on their home soil.

13 matches have been allocated for the tournament in each of its next two editions.

“Men’s Asia Cup Tournament’ means the biennial senior men’s cricket tournament organised and administered by the ACC involving designated Members, and shall include participation by the teams from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and one Non Test playing Member of ACC selected through qualifying events,” the ACC stated in its Invitation for Expression of Interest statement.

The tournament is used as a warm-up event for World Cups and is played in the format in which the mega tournament is to be held.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
