New Delhi: After a lot of suspense for months, it’s almost confirmed that the Indian cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the same, as per a report published in ESPNCricinfo.
The report further mentions that the Indian cricket board has told the apex cricketing body that it has been advised by the Indian government not to send the team to Pakistan. The big ICC event, which features eight teams, is scheduled to be played at three venues in Pakistan between February 19 and March 9. As per the latest development, the ICC and the PCB will need to plan a hybrid model where teams will shuttle between Pakistan and a second venue.
If a hybrid model comes into existence, United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expected to come up as the frontrunner in this case due to its closeness with Pakistan geographically.
