New Delhi: India registered their highest-ever power play score during the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium on February 2, Sunday. India scored 95 runs in six overs. Sanju Samson set the tone for Men in Blue as he smashed a six on the first ball of the innings.

Samson targeted Archer in the first over and smashed 16 runs against him, but after an early explosion, Mark Wood trapped Samson again with the short ball and dismissed him for 16 runs in seven balls. After Samson’s dismissal, Abhishek Sharma attacked Archer in the third over.

Abhishek scored 18 runs in the third over with two consecutive sixes. In the next over, Abhishek targeted Wood and India completed fifty runs in four overs.

The left-hander did not stop there and kept attacking English bowlers and completed his half-century in just 17 balls and recorded the second-fastest half-century for India in T20Is.

Tilak Verma also hit a four and a six in the last over of powerplay and recorded India’s highest-ever Powerplay score in T20Is.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bowl first in a dead-rubber match as India had already won the five-match T20I series. Mohammad Shami made his comeback again in the playing XI as he replaced Arshdeep Singh in the last T20I match.

Abhishek Sharma records second-fastest Hundred for India in T20Is

Abhishek Sharma broke many records with his innings against England in the fifth T20I against England. Firstly, he managed to register the second-fastest half-century for India in T20Is as he scored 50 runs in just 17 balls.

The 24-year-old batter kept attacking the English bowlers and the Indian team added double-digit scores in every over from the third to till the eighth over. Abhishek scored 100 runs in just 37 balls with an over 270 strike-rate.
