New Delhi: England beat India by 26 runs in the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday, January 28. The Men in Blue are currently leading the five-match series by 2-1.
The visitors scored 171 runs in the 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Varun Chakravarthy bowled a sensational spell as he picked up a five-wicket haul. But a brisk fifty by Ben Duckett and a crucial 43-run knock from Livingstone helped Jos Buttler and Co. to post a competitive total.
Chasing the 172-run target, Team India got off to a poor start and lost an early wicket in the form of opener Sanju Samson who struggled to get going once again. Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav also lost their wickets in the powerplay, while in-form Tilak Varma only managed to score 18 runs. The Indian batters struggled to score in the middle over as spinner Adil Rashid kept bowling tight lines.
All-rounders Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya also struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking when the England fast bowlers were in action. Boundaries were difficult to come by for the Men in Blue and as a result, they fell 26 runs short of the target.
