New Delhi: Team India will embark on a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on July 6, Saturday in Harare. The Men in Blue will be led by young skipper Shubman Gill, who travelled as a reserve with the team during the T20 World Cup 2024 but was released ahead of the start of the Super Eight stage.
After the culmination of the big-ticket event, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced retirement from the shortest format, passing on the baton to the youngsters in the side. A young India, minus the veteran players, will start a new chapter in the T20Is to carry on the legacy left by the seniors. India emerged triumphant in the finale of the showpiece event, brushing aside South Africa in a thrilling clash to lift an ICC trophy after 11 years.
The Indian team reached Harare on Wednesday while skipper Gill had arrived earlier on Tuesday evening directly from USA, where he was on an extended stay.
