Indian Embassy officials in Kuwait rescue AP migrant stuck in desert

Indian Embassy officials in Kuwait rescued an Indian migrant named Siva Aiveta from Vijayawada, who was stuck in the harsh desert of Kuwait and urged for help through a video on social media.

Siva is currently at the Embassy, where he was given proper food and shelter and will soon be sent home to Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. In the video, he said, “I am from AP, Rayalaseema, Chintaparthi mandal and I came here to Kuwait to make a living but they put me in a desert. After I put a video on social media, the Embassy officials saw the video and called me and got me here to the embassy. I thank everyone who helped me in this process.”

He went to Kuwait to earn a better living for his family but work in the desert area led to social isolation, lack food and water and mental distress. He was left alone by his employers for four days and was forced to survive without essentials. His agent and wife asked him to keep working even after he explained his situation.

His video gained attention from AP Minister Nara Lokesh and he promised to get him back from Kuwait via appropriate channels. “Siva is safely lodged at the Indian embassy in Kuwait. He will be brought back to Andhra Pradesh soon,” he wrote on his twitter account.
