New Delhi: The Indian women’s hockey team continued their dismal run in the FIH Pro League after going down in a clash against Germany 0-4 on Friday. The German women dominated the fixture right from the word go, not giving a moment to the Indian team to recover and hit back in the match, which was of utmost importance to them.
In a game which saw dominance from Germany women from start to finish, Amelie Wortmann, Sophia Schwabe and Johanne Hachenberg were the goal scorers for the side with goals in the 3rd minute, 18th and 47th minute and 59th minute respectively. Hachenberg was able to convert a penalty corner brilliantly scoring the last goal for the side during the clash.

While India women just secured two penalty corners, Germany secured as many as 10 penalty corners opportunities which showcases their brilliance in the game. The Germans struck in the third minute through Wortmann and in just few seconds, earned their first penalty corner but failed to capitalise on the opportunity.
Couple of minutes lates, the brilliant German side managed to secure back-to-back penalty corners but India were able to defend both firmly. Germany doubled their lead in the 18th minute with a superb field goal. Couple of minutes lates, India earned penalty corner but failed to capitalise on the opportunity as the German goalkeeper proved too tough for them.
The 39th minute of the game came as another opportunity for India as they again earned a penalty corner but German runners did not let them pass through. After the last goal by Germany in the 59th minute, India tried their best to make a comeback in the match but it was too late for the Women in Blue.
India, who are currently placed seventh in the nine-team standings on six points from four games, will play Germany again on Saturday.
