New Delhi: With January 12 set as the deadline for finalising the squads for Champions Trophy 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the squad on January 11, Saturday. The BCCI selection committee will meet to pick the squad for the all-important ICC event beginning on February 19 in Pakistan and the UAE.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and his team will meet in couple of days to finalise the members who would be sent to participate in the big-ticket event. The squad will though be a provisional one and it can be amended by till February 13, 6 days prior to the start.
BCCI will aim to pick the best in the lot
A series of woeful results coming in the red-ball format, with the 1-3 series defeat to Australia being the latest, the Indian cricket board would be keen on picking up the best players available in the lot. The entire selection committee would be under immense pressure to help the team deliver in the white-ball cricket after India lost an opportunity to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.
