New Delhi: Team India suffered an injury scare ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Thursday with star batter Sarfaraz Khan suffering a blow on his elbow. During India’s practice session ahead of the tough Australia Test series, Sarfaraz was seen in pain, holding his right elbow firmly on the field.

India would be aiming to make a mark in the Test series with some wins. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz was struck on the elbow while batting and a video of the young batter floated on social media where he could be seen leaving the nets in pain.

Sarfaraz doing fine: Reports
While the exact nature of his injury is not known yet, but according to a report published on PTI later in the day, the Mumbai batter is doing fine and there was no requirement of a MRI. He definitely got a hard hit on his elbow and was seen in pain but a major injury has been ruled out for now. With skipper Rohit Sharma unlikely to participate in the series opener from November 22, a window could be opened for the young batter to take part in the Test match.
If Rohit remains unavailable for the match due to the birth of his second child, KL Rahul will most likely open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, which paves a way for Sarfaraz to fit in the middle-order. In his 6 Test matches after making a debut in February 2024, the young sensation has scored 371 runs with an average of 37.10.
