Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs chanted slogans against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Telangana Legislative Assembly for a remark he made against BRS lawmakers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy.
BRS leaders walked into the Well of the House and later out of the Assembly to demand an apology from the CM for his comments against women lawmakers.
This came after the chief minister intervened while BRS MLA KT Rama Rao was speaking on the Appropriation Bill and asked him not to trust the ‘sisters’ (Sabitha Indra reddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy). Revanth Reddy said that Sabitha Reddy invited him to Join Congress and promised him support ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She, however, jumped into the BRS as a minister before he was declared as a Congress candidate for Malkajgiri LS constituency.
Offended by the remark, Sabitha Reddy also recalled how she wished him well and encouraged him to join the Congress party. “Why is the Congress party targeting me now?” she asked.
V Sunita Lakshma Reddy said, “We worked with commitment no matter which party we were in. It is like insulting the women of the state. They insulted me along with DK Aruna and Sabita Reddy. We wish well for our brothers and we want him to apologise for the remarks.”
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Revanth Reddy said that Sabitha Reddy was a fraud and that KCR was not a responsible leader of opposition. “They spoke more than the government and we are democratic.”
