New Delhi: In a gesture of solidarity, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) paid tribute to the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam ahead of the IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens on Saturday. As many as 26 people were killed and several others injured when terrorists opened fire at the tourists at the scenic spot in South of Kashmir.

To honour those who lost their lives, a minutes silence was observed before the start of the play at the iconic stadium. The customary Eden bell, which has been rung for several years before the start of a game, was not done in a mark of respect. Among those who were present during the moment were CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, secretary Naresh Ojha, treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty, joint secretary Debabrata Da and some other members of the association.

Former Australian cricketer and PBKS assistant coach Brad Haddin was also present along with the other dignitaries. The terror attack, which took place on Tuesday, April 22, has left the entire nation shocked, with people from all walks of life condemning the ghastly attack. Meanwhile, the Knight Riders would be looking for a win in the game at their home ground after being placed at the seventh position with just three victories and five defeats. The win in the match on Saturday would also help in keeping their chances alive for the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Punjab Kings are placed at better spot with five wins and three losses in eight games. A win in the clash could further strengthen their playoff chances and move them into the league of the teams with 6 wins in the season so far. Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the franchises with 6 victories till now.
