New Delhi: Ishan Kishan blazed his way to a stunning knock of unbeaten 94 off just 48 balls in his team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)’s clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, May 23. Kishan put the RCB bowling attack to the sword en route to his fabulous knock to help SRH post a huge total of 231 runs on the board.
Kishan’s unbeaten 94 was laced with seven fours and five sixes as he missed out on a well-deserved century by a whisker. The explosive left-hander came out to bat at no.3 for SRH after openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got them off to a flyer in the game. Asked to bat first, Abhishek and Head added a 54-run stand for the first wicket to help SRH dominate in the Powerplay.
However, the duo departed in quick succession, leaving SRH in a spot of bother at 54/2. But Kishan combined with Heinrich Klaasen (24) to continue the momentum and add a crucial stand of 48 runs for the third wicket. Kishan raced to his fifty off just 28 balls and continued to take the RCB bowlers to the cleaners.
He was well supported by Aniket Verma, who launched some lusty blows in his short 9-ball 26 cameo. Kishan eventually helped SRH finish strongly as he got to 94, while skipper Pat Cummins remained unbeaten after scoring 13 off 6 deliveries. His stupendous knock was a much-needed confidence-booster for Kishan, who was struggling for consistency for SRH this season.
Kishan, who started the season with a magnificent century against the Rajasthan Royals in SRH’s season opener, failed to replicate his heroics in the later stages of the tournament. However, he looked in sublime touch with the bat against RCB on Friday and played some sizzling strokes across all parts of the ground.
