New Delhi: Just a day is left for the much-awaited event of the year – the Indian Premier Auction (IPL) 2025 mega auction to kickstart. The two-day fest is scheduled to start on Sunday, November 24 at 3.30 PM IST and will run on Tuesday, November 25 as well. Teams will get an opportunity to complete their squads for the upcoming edition of the league by picking the best of the players.
Three weeks back, all the ten franchises announced the retention and released list, with all retaining their key players and releasing many others and few releasing their key players including captains as well for picking some quality at the mega pool auction. As many as 577 players, Indian and overseas, will be up for grabs after three more players were added to the pool list increasing the total from 574 to 577.
Here’s a look at key Indian batters who will be in demand
KL Rahul
Lucknow Super Giants skipper and wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul will be in demand and up for grabs as top franchises would be targeting him at the mega auction 2025. Rahul was released by the LSG franchise recently after a video of him engaging in war of word with owner Sajiv Goenka led to the fallout between the two. Although, he could not do much for LSG as a skipper but his performance as a batter was appreciable as he scored more that 500 runs in the 2024 edition of the league.
Shreyas Iyer
Kolkata Knight Riders took a very bold step by releasing their title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer when they announced the list of the retained and released players recently. Iyer who has scored over 3000 runs in the cash-rich league so far could possibly be on the radar of many franchises for fulfilling their middle-order woes. Not only a class batter, his role as a quality skipper will definitely attract more bids.
Ishan Kishan
In just over 100 IPL matches, Ishan Kishan, who was once hailed as India’s next big thing, has scored more than 2600 hundred runs in the league at an impressive strike rate of almost 140. His terrific batting prowess and wicketkeeping skills make him as one of the top contenders to get picked by some of the best franchises. Kishan was released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the next edition.
Rishabh Pant
The flamboyant Rishabh Pant was one of the most shocking releases ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The former Delhi Capitals captain and star wicketkeeper-batter is among the big players who is expected to go for a big bidding price. He has scored a total of 3287 runs in 11 matches of the cash-rich league.
