New Delhi: Mitchell Marsh continued his dream run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with his fifth half-century in the tournament in the ongoing match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Playing his first match since the resumption, Marsh showed no sign of rustiness and looked in fine touch from the word go. The Australian all-rounder has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, his best in the history of IPL, and Monday’s knock was yet another masterful innings full of brute power and class.
Sent in to bat first. LSG got off to a blazing start courtesy of Marsh, who smashed his Aussie counterpart and SRH skipper Pat Cummins for a six and a four. Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey was also welcomed with a maximum as Marsh set the tone for a rapid start. Ably supported by Aiden Markram at the other end, Marsh meted out more punishment on Dubey in his second over, with Markram also joining the party.
Marsh slams fifth fifty of the campaign
The boundary flow continued as Marsh completed his fifth half-century of the campaign in just 28 balls in the eighth over. Dubey, however, redeemed himself and dismissed Marsh for 65 (39b) in the 11th over to bring some relief to the Orange Army camp.
A few minutes later, Markram also brought up his fifth half-century to put LSG on course for a big total. Rishbah Pant, the skipper of LSG, however, continued his horror run in IPL 2025 after being dismissed for 7 by Ehsan Malinga.
Earlier, SRH skipper Cummins won the toss and elected to field against the Super Giants in Lucknow. Sunrises made two changes in the squad, replacing Travis Head and Jaydev Unadkat with Harsh Dubey and Atharva Taide
LSG, on the other hand, handed IPL debut to New Zealand pacer Will O’Rourke, who replaced David Miller.
Sunrisers, already out of playoff contention, are looking to spoil LSG’s party. The Super Giants are facing a do-or-die match, requiring to win their all three remaining games with massive margins.
