New Delhi: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to pacer Mustafizur Rahman to play for IPL side Delhi Capitals for a limited duration from May 18 to 24 after playing for Bangladesh in the first T20 International against the UAE in Sharjah on Saturday.
Rahman was named a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who is set to miss the remainder of the season. The rising cross-border tension between India and Pakistan the tournament being called off temporarily, and the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings was suspended in Dharamshala. After the situation got better, BCCI consulted the government and released a revised IPL schedule.
The league is set to resume from May 17 with a match between Royal Challengers Bangluru and Kolkata Knight Riders. The BCB in a statement has confirmed the release of Bangladesh fast bowler. The statement read, “As per the decision of BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his participation in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, for the period from 18 to 24 May, 2025.”

The former CSK pacer will only be available for the remaining three group stages fixtures, and if Axar Patel’s squad manages to reach the IPL Playoffs, they won’t be able to avail of his services. Mustafizure will be available for Bangladesh’s first T20 international against the UAE, which is scheduled for 17 May 2025 in Sharjah.
There is no clarity regarding whether he will be available for selection for the DC vs GT match, which is scheduled for May 18. Mitchell Starc has already pulled out of the remaining season as he will be busy preparing for the World Test Championship, which is scheduled to take place on June 11. Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs will return for the remaining season, but Stubbs will only be available for the remaining league phase fixtures as he has also been named in South Africa’s WTC Final squad.
What’s next for DC?
DC are currently fifth in the standings with six wins from 11 games and have remaining matches against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
