New Delhi: Mumbai Indians will take on Gujarat Titans in a do or die Eliminator clash of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 on Friday in Mullanpur. Either of the sides will exit the cash-rich league today with the winner proceeding towards Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings on Sunday for a place in the final.
Mumbai’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been in sublime form in the current edition of the league as he has demonstrated his best skills in the 18th edition of the IPL. The swashbuckling batter has scored 640 runs in the tournament, emerging as the best batter for the team this season and the next best overall after Virat Kohli.
Surya chasing Kohli’s big record
As the champion side is gearing up to prepare for the all-important clash against the Titans, Suryakumar is eyeing a massive milestone, chasing batting star Virat Kohli’s big record against the Titans. Kohli has been the most successful batter against the Gujarat franchise in the history of IPL. In six innings against the one-time champions, the RCB star has scored 351 runs, which includes a century and three half-centuries.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar has scored 283 runs against the Titans in the league till now with an impressive average of above 55 and a striking strike rate of close to 175. The Mumbai batter needs to score 69 more runs in today’s clash and if he does it, he will go past Kohli to become the most successful IPL batter against the Gujarat franchise.
After Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the next best scorer against the Titans with 350 runs in his kitty while Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are also on the list. Meanwhile, the third-placed side and the fourth-placed franchise have been fabulous in the league thus far and would like to continue the momentum in the most important clash. On Thursday, RCB became then first team to reach the finals after a thumping win against Punjab Kings.
