New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a strict action against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Digvesh Singh Rathi for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Lucknow on Tuesday. Digvesh was fined 25 per cent of his match fess and also handed one demerit point for his animated notebook send-off to Punjab batter Priyansh Arya.

Digvesh admitted to the Level 1 offensive under Article 2.5 and accepted the match referee’s sanction. It all happened in the penultimate ball of the third over of the Punjab chase when Digvesh bowled a short and wide delivery to Arya. The left-handed batter went for the pull shot without too much movement of the foot and ended up top-edging the ball. Shardul Thakur had to run from mid-on to take the catch.

As Arya was walking back to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs off 9 balls, Digvesh walked up to him and acted like writing his name in an imaginary notebook. The on-field umpire noted the fiery send-off and had a word with the bowler later.
