New Delhi: Former UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is making his return to the octagon after three long years. He will be fighting against Rob Font in the UFC Fight Night at the Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle on February 22, Sunday.
Cruz won the Bantamweight title in 2010 and successfully defended his title six times in the UFC. He was running the bantamweight division on his own but Cody Garbrandt broke the winning streak of Cruz and gave his second loss of his career.
After the loss against Cody, Cruz sustained an injury and was out of action for almost three years. Cruz came back in 2020 and directly got a title shot against Henry Cejudo but lost the fight.
Cruz won two fights after his comeback and was commencing to title run once again but Marlon Vera ended his dream and he took a three-year break from the octagon.
Cruz might be retiring from combat sports after his last fight against Font at UFC Fight Night. Cruz’s career was affected by his injuries and it will be a possibility after the fight against Font, he will hang up his gloves.
Font is ninth-ranked in the bantamweight division and coming from a win against Kyler Phillips. He lost four fights out of his last six fights and will be looking to get back in the back-to-back win column after 2021.
