New Delhi: Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan smashed a splendorous ton on the second day of the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament 2024 in the match between Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh played at the India Cements Ltd Cricket Ground in Sankar Nagar.
The southpaw led the charge of Jharkhand after the bowling unit bundled up Madhya Pradesh for 225. Ishan scored 114 runs from 107 balls with his innings laced by five boundaries and 10 sixes as Jharkhand ended the day with a decent lead of 52 runs.
The Jharkhand skipper danced down the pitch to swat the ball for an impressive one-handed six to notch his seventh first-class century in 86 balls. Kishan’s intent was spot on with every shot depicting the hunger of the 26-year-old to return to Test cricket for the Indian team.
Ishan was snubbed from the central contract list of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this year. The Indian board cited that players who don’t prefer domestic cricket won’t be considered for central contracts, though Ishan explained that it was his personal well-being to miss India’s tour of South Africa. Some reports had suggest that the player pulled out of the two-match Test series owing to mental fatigue but that didn’t go well with the BCCI, and consequently, he was dropped from the central contracts.

Which team Ishan Kishan will play for in Duleep Trophy?
Ishan Kishan will part of Duleep Trophy 2024 which is the first tournament to kick off Indian domestic season. The 26-year-old will be part of Team D as one of their wicketkeepers with KS Bharat of Andhra Pradesh being the other option. Kishan will play under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, who was also sidelined from the central contract list by the BCCI after unwilling to play domestic cricket.
