T20 World Cup: David Miller reprimanded for ICC Code of Conduct breach during England Super 8 clash

New Delhi: David Miller has been reprimanded and handed one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Super 8 clash from Group 2 in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia on Friday. Miller was found to be guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The article related to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an international match.” The incident had occurred in the penultimate over of South Africa’s innings when Miller played a full toss thrown down from Sam Curran and expected it to be called a ‘no ball’ concerning the height. When the umpire denied him a no-ball, the South African batter showed his displeasure by signaling for a review of the decision whereas it wasn’t possible to review it.

This was the southpaw’s first offence in a 24-month period which he admitted to and accepted the sanction proposed by the match referee Jeff Crowe. This ruled out the need for a formal hearing. The on-field umpires Chris Brown and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth umpire Chris Gaffaney levelled the charge.
