Ishan Kishan shuts critics with viral Insta post after smashing ton in Duleep Trophy

New Delhi: Ishan Kishan has been on a comeback trail as he battles hard to earn back his spot in the Indian team after nearly 10 months of international wilderness. Kishan last played for India in November last year and recently made his comeback in first-class cricket in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. The wicket-keeper made a strong return with a brilliant century for India C.

Kishan missed the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to injury concerns but smashed a century on his return in India C’s clash against India B to announce his comeback in style. The explosive left-hander slammed a brilliant 111-run knock off 126 balls to help Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C post a mammoth total of 525 runs on the board in their first innings.

Kishan took to Instagram to respond to his critics after smashing a ton on his return to first-class cricket. The left-hander shared a two-ordered post with the caption “Unfinished business”. The post went viral on social media with fans appreciating the wicket-keeper batter for showcasing his class on his long-awaited return to first-class cricket.

Kishan was ignored from the Indian team after being snubbed from the BCCI central contracts list for not playing domestic cricket when not on national duty. Kishan had opted for a break from international cricket citing mental health concerns. However, it ended up being a long break for the left-hander, who made his return to competitive cricket in the DY Patil T20 Cup earlier this year.

Kishan also played for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Trophy last month and slammed a ton for his state team in their clash against Madhya Pradesh. The left-hander has been in good form since his comeback and is eyeing his spot in the Indian team.

Ishan Kishan in the fray for Bangladesh T20I series

Kishan reportedly has a strong chance of getting selected in India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. The selectors might rest Rishabh Pant from the T20I series considering India have a long Test season ahead which can pave the way for Kishan’s return in the T20I setup. The left-hander will hope to capitalise on his opportunities if he gets selected in the T20I squad for the Bangladesh series.
