New Delhi: Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya recently issued a brutal response to his critics over ‘washed’ claims after his latest defeat against Nassourdine Imavov. Adesanya has had a mighty downfall of late as results have not gone in his favour in his recent fights. The Nigerian-New Zealand MMA fighter has now lost four of his last five fights in the UFC.

Three of them have been stoppage defeats for the 35-year-old, who many believe is losing his prowess one fight after another. However, Adesanya, who has shown in the past that he is not someone who gives up easily, has vowed to come back stronger as he also opened up on his chances of getting a shot at the UFC middleweight title in the future.

Adesanya lost via TKO in his last UFC appearance against Imavov. The 35-year-old who was a sensation in boxing and kickboxing before taking up MMA, looked in control in the first round of his fight against Imavov. However, he lost the plot in the second round and it all went downhill from there as he lost the match.

Israel Adesanya not hoping to fight for UFC title anytime soon

After his defeat against Imavov, Adesanya opened up on his chances of getting a shot at the UFC title in the future during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on YouTube. The 35-year-old said he never came to the UFC to chase the title and is not going to do that now. However, he insisted he always knew he would get the opportunity to fight for the title.

“Do I have a title shot in mind for the future? No! When I got to the UFC, I never chased the belt. I stand on that. I never chased the belt. I expected it. I expected to be champion… I expected to get to this point that I wanted to get to because of the work that I put in and my belief in myself, (and) my mindset. I knew with everything that I was going to do, I was going to get there. I expected it,” Adesanya said in the video.
