‘It’s genuinely a shame’: BCCI lambasted for Duleep Trophy live telecast fiasco

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came under heavy criticism from the fans for their inability to telecast the Duleep Trophy match between India C and India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B, Anantapur. Fans questioned the decision of the richest cricket board to telecast only one match (India A vs India D) and ignore the other where several star players like Ruturaj Gaekwad, Rinku Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar and Sai Sudharsan among others are featuring.

The match also features young superstar Musheer Khan, who scripted history in Round 1 by smashing a sensational double ton on his debut. The game also marks the return of Ishan Kishan, who made a surprise entry in India’s playing XI.

While the India A vs India A match was being telecast, the lack of a second broadcast left the fans fuming.

One fan slammed BCCI for being unable to telecast two domestic games simultaneously despite being the world’s richest cricket board.

It’s genuinely a shame that the richest cricket board can’t even telecast two domestic games at the same time. After all the hype the Duleep Trophy got, it’s absurd to think that you can only watch one of the two games.#RuturajGaikwad pic.twitter.com/A5zo5cFCdu

BCCI’s hypocritical stance?

For all the hype created for the Duleep Trophy before the start of the domestic season, BCCI’s decision to telecast only one match is absurd and hypocritical. The Indian Cricket Board won praises from all corners for prioritising red-ball cricket by advising all the international cricketers to participate in domestic tournaments but if there are no eyeballs to watch India’s superstars and young talents how will the tournaments garner interest?
