‘It’s in their blood’: Pakistan trolled as two players collide while fielding – WATCH

New Delhi: Pakistan’s sloppy fielding once again let them down in their final league stage clash against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday, October 14. Pakistan suffered a 54-run defeat in the game to bow out of the tournament. Their defeat also confirmed Harmanpreet Kaur-led India’s exit from the competition.

Pakistan players were abysmal on the field throughout the game against New Zealand. They dropped as many as eight catches, made some comical errors, and were far from their best. In an instance which perfectly summed up Pakistan’s dreadful fielding, two of their players collided on the field while trying to stop the ball.

The incident occurred during the 4th over of New Zealand’s innings after the Kiwis won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. New Zealand batter Georgia Plimmer played a shot towards mid-off on the penultimate ball of the over from Sadia Iqbal. The ball slipped through two fielders after a collision between them.

Both players went to stop the ball but none managed to do as they ended up crashing into each other. Fans couldn’t help but take a dig at Pakistan’s fielding after the sloppy error on the field. Many compared the women’s team’s fielding to Pakistan’s men’s team as they trolled the Fatima Sana-led side for their fielding disasterclass against New Zealand.

New Zealand crush Pakistan to enter semi-finals

Talking about the game, New Zealand hammered Pakistan by 54 runs to eliminate them from the tournament. Pakistan gave themselves an outside chance of qualifying for the top four from Group A after restricting the Kiwis to a low-key total of 110 runs in 20 0vers. However, they needed to chase down the target in 10.4 overs to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Opener Muneeba Ali did give Pakistan a good start with a quickfire but they lost wickets at regular intervals to lose the plot. Skipper Fatima Sana top-scored for Pakistan with 21 off 23 balls as they were bowled out for just 56 runs in 11.4 overs with Amelia Kerr taking a three-wicket haul for the Kiwis. With the win, New Zealand qualified for their first T20 World Cup semi-final since 2016.
