New Delhi: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli last played in the India vs Sri Lanka three-match ODI series. He didn’t have a great ODI series and only managed to score 58 runs. He was troubled by the Sri Lanka spinners in the challenging conditions.
The batting failure of Team India resulted in the ODI series loss against Sri Lanka after 27 years. Virat Kohli returned to the team after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29. After the victory, he retired from the T20I format to focus on Test and ODI cricket.
After losing the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Kohli flew back to London where he lives with wife Anushka Sharma and two kids. Kohli has now taken some time off and was recently spotted strolling through London streets with wife Anushka Sharma. He is expected to be back for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Even after the T20 World Cup, many reports suggested that the star cricketer is planning to settle down in London along with his wife and kids. Though there is no evidence in these reports but Kohli has always expressed his desire to live away from the crowd and media.
Kohli likely to be back for Bangladesh series
After announcing his retirement from T20 internationals, Kohli is now focused on the upcoming Champions Trophy and World Test Championship in 2025. The Men in Blue qualified for the back-to-back WTC finals but faced defeat from New Zealand and Australia. Under his captaincy, Team India also lost the final of the Champions Trophy against Pakistan in 2017.
Indian cricketers are currently enjoying a long break and will be back in action on September 19 to face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. The Men in Blue will also play three Test matches against New Zealand in October and will tour Australia for the five-match Test series in late November.
